POWER SUPPLIES
EXEEDS power supply designs have included both forward converter and flyback converter designs with power ranges from 0.5 Watts to 100 Watts.  The performance of one particular 3 Watt flyback  power supply design, used for 200°C applications, demonstrated a maximum operating temperature of over 230°C.  EXEEDS has developed a unique flyback design which allows for multiple outputs and provides excellent cross-regulator properties.

POWER AMPLIFIERS
EXEEDS has developed power amplifiers with bandwidths of a few Hertz to kilo-Hertz and output powers of a few Watts to hundreds of Watts. One power supply in particular uses a unique loop control to allow for constant input power, an important property when operating from batteries.

ALTERNATOR REGULATORS
EXEEDS has patented a unique method of alternator voltage regulation referred to as Boost Mode Regulation of 3-phase Alternators. This method resulted in a 100 Watt downhole alternator voltage regulator with a proven operating temperature of 200°C with a demonstrated 15°C engineering margin. This capability was primarily due to the extremely high efficiency of the voltage regulator design. This alternator voltage regulator design demonstrated an efficiency of 95% with a 100 Watt output and an efficiency of greater than 92% with an output power down to 25 Watts.

MICROPROCESSOR BASED ACQUISITION & CONTROL
EXEEDS has developed several microprocessor based acquisition and control systems, some demonstrating an operating temperature of 200°C but most operating to at least 175°C. In both cases, the circuits had an engineering margin of at least 15°C. During the development of many of these systems, other services provided by EXEEDS included the preparation of software specifications and project guidance throughout the development phases.

SENSOR CIRCUITS
EXEEDS has developed a variety of low level measurement circuits for directional measurement applications including accelerometer and magnetometer circuits operating to 200°C with an engineering margin of 15°C. Other products include pulse detector and amplifier circuits operating up to 200°C and charge amplifier circuits for use with piezoelectric sensors operating to 175°C.

HYBRID CIRCUITS
Together with hybrid manufacturers, EXEEDS has developed hybrid circuits for use in a variety of high temperature applications.

SURFACE SYSTEMS
In addition to downhole design expertise, EXEEDS has developed surface equipment and systems including:

  • State-of-the-art 3 meter Helmholtz calibration system
  • Water tight surface computer system for full immersion applications
  • Computer based test, measurement and calibration equipment
  • Specialized surface equipment for support of various wireline and MWD based products
  • Development of various communications systems used in wireline and MWD EM and mud pulse applications
