Reliable Electronics Designed and Built to Perform in Extreme Conditions

EXEEDS provides electronic design and development services for high reliability products used in extreme environments typically encountered in Oilfield Wireline and Measurement While Drilling (MWD) applications. Often these products must operate for thousands of hours at temperatures up to 200°C, vibration levels up to 50 g’s RMS and shocks up to 1000 g’s peak.

To ensure that electronic products will operate reliably in these extreme environments, the electronics must be designed in a manner which considers how the characteristics of the electrical component change when exposed to these extremes. A reliable electronics design often requires the use of specific components which themselves perform well to temperature in combination with an electronics design that complements the unique characteristics of the components at temperature.

EXEEDS has 30 years experience in the design and development of products that must reliably function in harsh environments. Through that knowledge and experience a host of electrical components and complementary circuits have been identified which, when combined, offer circuits suitable for use in these extreme environments.

Often products developed for use in these extremes work fine in development but have poor yields when manufactured. To ensure that the products can be manufactured, EXEEDS typically employs an engineering design margin of 15°C to 25°C during the development phase. During development the prototypes must meet the customer specifications while operating in an environment that exceeds the specified operating temperature range by 15°C to 25°C. This engineering margin helps to produce a more robust design and a product that is more easily manufactured.
